Edinburgh - 4 Nov 2010

After leaving our convenient half way stop in Durham, we headed due north to Edinburgh and, after an overnight stay in a very reasonably priced hotel with the oddest shower (it had a square head that was directly above you - not so convenient if you want to keep the water off your hair for some reason!), we went out to the city to have a look around and to meet up with friends from Germany.  Here are some highlights.

One thing I just love about Scots buildings is how hefty and, well, just plain durable looking they are!

No travel post would be complete with the ubiquitous attractive doorway

Even the Tardis made a stop here!!

Methinks this Royal Mile shop is interested in attracting international clientele of a certain ethnic extraction - an English and Chinese 'menu' of what the shop sells.

Except the snowflake, this reminds me of spring in Taiwan...

Edinburgh Castle and environs

A lunch of hearty proportions followed all the pavement pounding

Serenaded by Fritz on the mouth organ!

Next stop: Cambridge!
